Spirulina Improve immune system via rich proteins & minerals (iron & zinc), prevent & cure diabetes, anemia, allergies, HIV & hepatitis. spirulina useful for Anti-radiation, regulate blood lipids, immune regulation, inhibition of tumor Scientists at the Osaka Institute of Public Health in Japan have found that Spirulina promoted the activation of natural cancer-fighting substances in the body. The study was reported at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Immunology held in November 2000. In this clinical study volunteers over 40 years of agce were given 50 ml of Lina Green 21 (a Spirulina extract) and the level of natural cancer-fighting substances were measured in their blood. The results showed that Spirulina significantly increased the tumor killing ability of Natural Killer Cells and interferon gamma. The interferon gamma and natural killer cell activity was increased 1-2 weeks after administration of Spirulina and the activity continued for a surprising 12-24 weeks even after stopping the administration of Spirulina. Many other similar studies by researchers at University of California, Davis and North Carolina State University point to the potential of Spirulina for use in immuno therapy. In an earlier study reported at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association (October, 2000) the Osaka group also found that the co-administration of Spirulina extract with a bacterial cell wall product significantly increased the regression of implanted tumor cells in mice compared to the administration of BCG-CWS alone. More than 80% remission was obtained with this co-treatment. According to the researchers this new treatment approach holdsSpirulina is also used in insulin dependent diabetes, Cholesterol control, Vitamin A deficiency &malnutrition, Glaucoma and myopia. It also finds application as adjunct to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. In formulations with other natural products it is used as a general health supplement, liver corrective for liver disorder, Burns therapy, skin grafting, Control obesity and Lactating agent for mothers. Spirulina is used in pimple lotions, Facial masks, Hair oil, Shampoo, Mineral bath, Skin cleaner etc. It has applications in Piscicultue and Sericulture as feed and in Animal Husbandry as calf-starter feed. This wonder gift of nature will find more applications in days to come.c Spirulina is a genus of blue-green algae used as a nutritional supplement. Spirulina contains many nutrients, including B vitamins, beta-carotene, gamma-linolenic acid, iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium, zinc, bioflavonoids, and protein.Spirulina is about 65% protein by composition. These proteins are complete, in that they contain all essential , plus some nonessential ones. In that regard, it is similar to animal protein, but does not contain saturated fats, or residues of hormones or antibiotics that are in some meats. It is a good source of trace minerals, some vitamins, bioflavonoids, and other phytochemicals. It also has high digestibility and bioavailability of nutrients.Spirulina is widely taken to improve immune system and proven useful inprevention and cure of such diseases as oral leukoplakia, diabetes, HIV, hepatitis, anemia, allergies, asthma, arthritis, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among children. It's also recommended forweight loss and beauty care. The world great discovery The story of Spirulina was revealed to public through a great discovery of some scientists who unexpectedly found that the way of life of one African tribe was interesting. Even though those villagers were living in a poor area and had less chance to consume protein from meat, they could still live healthily on "Dihe", a common type of algae grown around the lake in that area. This algae, which later called " Spirulina", was usually brought from the surface of that lake and later dried in the heat. Through its simple characteristic, Spirulina was amazingly believed to have contained a variety of high quality nutrients. And that has become the great discovery of food product for the future. Spirulina is claimed to have very high protein at the level of 60-70%. Besides, it also contains rich concentration of vitamins such as Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E and H, Folic Acid and Nicotinic Acid. In addition, Spirulina contains 250% more B12 than that of liver, so it is the world's highest source of Vitamin B12. Beta - Carotene which is Pro-Vitamin A found in it is 20-25 times more than that of Carrots. There are also several minerals such as Iron, Magnesium, Calcium and Potassium found here. Iron is 3 times more than that of a piece of steak. Interestingly, Spirulina has perfect 18 amino acids which is essential components of human cells. It is also the source of Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), a fatty acid. (Nutrition facts)c chistory, Spirulina has just become well-known in our industrial world for the past 30 years. Some cases that got much world-wide attentionare that (1)Spirulina wasprovidedto malnutritioned children in India to alleviate the problem of blindness caused by lack of dietary vitamin A (1 year-long study, 1 gram per day per kid); (2) Spirulina markedly improved the immune functions ofchildren livingnear Chenobyl, Ukraine, after 45-day consuming5 grams of Spirulina per day per kid.
